Infants and Chiropractic

Birth can be very traumatic, not just on mom but on baby too.  Each birth is unique and there can be many ways a baby can suffer from some sort of strain from the labor process.  Unfortunately most trauma from birth goes undetected.  There was a study done by G. Gutmann and he wrote "The trauma from the birth process remains an under-publicized and therefore significantly under-treated problem."

There was a recent study done by Viola Frymann that demonstrates that 90% of newborns suffered the effects of birth trauma: associated strain through the neck and cranial areas following birth.  Frymann who is an American Osteopathic Doctor studied more than 1500 babies periodically across an 8 year period.  She examined all the babies within the first 5 days of birth; some where even checked within their first 24 hours born.  This study revealed that approximately 10% of the newborns had perfect, freely mobile skulls or cranial mechanisms.  10% had severe trauma to the head, evident even to untrained observers.  The remaining 80% all had some strain patterns in the cranial mechanism.

See the importance of having your baby checked by a chiropractor as soon as possible after birth.  If the trauma is left untreated then it can and will develop into something more.  Your baby will not be at their highest potential of growth and development.  Not to mention they be having unnecessary pain or discomfort that they can only express by crying.  I strongly encourage you to spread the word and have your children checked or if you know someone who is dealing with a child who seems to be unhealthy or struggling!!
