Next step to transformation

OK so it has been a couple weeks into my sleep transformation, still doing well.. more days I accomplish my task then not. But I thoroughly enjoy the results when I do accomplish my goal which leads me to continue to want and try. I have faith it will be my new normal!

Before I get into my next step, I just want you all to know that my first goal would have been chiropractic care.  I however already have that down, but if you or your family have not experienced the benefits of chiropractic, I highly encourage that you do.  Chiropractic is all about your nervous system, which is the master control system of your entire body, everything about you.  This includes how your body heals, adapts, digest your food, breaths, sleeps and literally anything else you can think of.  So it is critical to include chiropractic to your life if you want the best results, the best healing, the best functioning body you can have.

OK so now my next step to my new year transformation!  Eating a healthy diet!  We all know what the "healthy" diet looks like... vegetables, fruits, clean protein, etc.  But do you realize the huge concern with a majority of foods on the shelves in the grocery store?  Processed foods are a HUGE problem, so bad for you.  Things like hamburger helper, tuna helper, boxed simple meals, prepared foods. I highly encourage you to do some research on it, even if you know already, do some digging. You will be shocked at what you find.

I have been cleaning my families diet for years now. But we slip from time to time. I am a single mom who works and homeschools, time is a huge issue.  It is easy to find the fast meal.  But I have taken control of that, my quick meals consist of pasta (which I use organic) with jarred sauce (also organic, or minimal/cleanest ingredients in comparison to others) or fried up organic chicken with coconut oil with a bag of frozen mixed veggies or salad.  I believe that giving ourselves a break for occasional slips is important to maintain a better healthier diet. Don't be too strict on yourself.

Here are some tips I used to get started!  First do your research, the more you learn the easier it is to take bad things away.  Second start with less and work your way to none. I started with processed foods. I went from more then half our meals to almost none. I made it my goal as a parent to actually cook from scratch as much as I could. You can find a lot of great recipes, you don't need to be a chief or even enjoy cooking to make a decent meal for you and your family.  Try to buy organic whenever you can or at least Non GMO. Learn the label system because that is a very tricky one. I will talk more about that next time.  Third make a goal to eliminate sugar, again start with less and work your way to none or at least almost none.  Sugar is in SOOOOO much of our food, and it isn't necessary, it is there to cause addiction and for you to crave that product. Like bread, white processed bread is full of sugar.  If you use a lot of bread find an alternative, get the expensive good bread, Non GMO. You will notice you don't need a lot of bread because it will stop being used as much, but that isn't a bad thing!

If you are standing over a bowl of ingredients to cook your meal that alone is a step in the right direction.  If you can have at least half of those ingredients being clean ingredients your 4 steps closer. Always remember WE ARE WHAT WE EAT.. diet alone can change your entire life, it can cause sickness and it can cause health.  It is OUR responsibility to make the correct choices, the government, the FDA they are not going to guide you in the correct direction.

Another great goal (one I struggle with but can get a better control of) is the times of your meals.  Trying to feed your family dinner around 5 or 6pm.  We really shouldn't be eating food at least 2 to 3 hours before we go to bed.  My biggest culprit is snack time. My kids have a habit and think they need a snack before bed. I do try very hard to have snack be around 7 pm.  But it is usually a sugar/sweet snack, not always but often.  I think I am going to try and find healthier sweet treats but also maybe I will do snack before dinner and have a later dinner if snack is going to have sugar.  If it is a healthier snack, like fruits or vegetables with dip.. or even chips (chose wisely with chips most are cooked with bad oils /Omega 6's) I will allow it after dinner, but still my goal will be by 7. So by the time they are laying down it has been a couple hours.  Water only after 7 as well, huge help. Get rid of SODA if it is in your house, and juice unless its organic. Look at the ingredients of everything you buy. NO DYES, less ingredients the better.. steer clear of high fructose corn syrup & corn syrup.

There is so much when it comes to the world of food and ingredients, again do your research.  That is the best choice you can make for you and your family, educating yourself.  You will be able to make better choices!! Good Luck to any of you taking the steps to clean your diet!  Your body will thank you for it!
